What is Tazendra going to be doing post-Sabra? :o

Everything! Seriously, it's a good thing she is Baroness Log*.

But first she will probably spend some time in her home world, reassuring all of her friends there that she's not dead, and everything is wonderful. And her boss will probably insist on knowing 'What the Hell Happened', because one of her organization's jobs is 'protect the empire from weird stuff' and gods no one had heard of stealing two souls from the Paths of the Death probably counts. (It's a good thing they are aware of other planes of existence.)

And, doing magic stuff without having to work with a bracer** and a chancy power source, and probably being romantic with Aerich, and the occasional fight because you really can't take her anywhere.

After that... well, she wants to at least see Selendis get her homeworld back (and help fight if she's allowed), and have Words (not actual words) with Lenalee's bosses, and visit Sion and Lyvuses, and generally travel around looking for trouble and counting on the fact that if there is trouble back home, her boss is a badass wizard and can track her down.

* It's canon that Tazendra pretty much hired a bunch of staff to run her barony for her, and she's just needed to do the noble equivalent of sign forms and paychecks.

** Selendis gave her Ideas about new ways to mess with teleportation spells. Given that magic canonically got a boost a couple years before Tazendra died and people are still working out all the new things, she'll be happy as a clam figuring out new ways to fight things with magic.

So, now that Lyvus has Insisted that Spear will keep who he is even if he gets his wish, what will Spear do?

I imagine that in-between the business of living his life Spear will allow himself to be TARDIS-napped for the occasional Lyvus shenanigans, and whenever he accumulates enough leave he will pay everyone he doesn't see during Lyvus-nappings visits to see how they're getting on. ...He will probably ask that people not randomly visit him because that could go badly, given his world. :Db

Tell me more about Tazendra and Aerich in Sabra!

Okay, so I apped Tazendra knowing that a few players knew her canon, but I never expected a canonmate for her becuase... well, book characters. (Hell, I didn't even tell anyone I was doing it, so until her app was approved, no one didn't know a thing.)

Bones specifically offered to play Aerich and even good-ended Bones to clear up a slot. I was away when Apus was intro'd, so I had to wait to have them meet -- it was before Tazendra had remembered him and Aerich had remembered anything but it was all 'hey, you are probably from my world'. I did find it hilarious that Tazendra had been there for at least a month IC time before Aerich arrived, and Corvus's terrible win record meant she didn't remember someone that important to her. Which... well, considering Royal was freaking out over Euphy on Apus might have been a bit much.

Honestly, I expected that Aerich would get his 'Tazendra dies' memory quickly, because... well, if I were a Judge and I knew two characters knew each other, giving them memories that 'your important person is DEAD' is sweet. After that... it was kind of funny that he told her, but, because he did so in third person (she asked what was troubling him, and he did so indirectly enough that she didn't clue in that he meant him and her, even once she had all the pieces), she didn't grok it. Which was fine by me.

Even once Tazendra remembered 'I am strongly attracted to Aerich', she never mentioned it out of 'well, I must have had a good reason'.

Then Mirror hit Tazendra with her penalty, and she was honestly terrified since she knew Aerich was a Duke and she was now a peasant, that he'd no longer be her friend. And he was upset by the change, but not at her and was all 'you are still Tazendra the bravest woman I know and don't even let gene-altering gods tell you otherwise'.

There was also the hilarious Apus/Cygnus 'wedding' during the baby minigame, where somehow Daisy and Aerich got drafted as parents to the baby doll and ended up play-acting a wedding. The first Tazendra heard of it was from Cheer, who didn't know it was part of a game, and Tazendra was all 'well, he's my friend but this is... surprising and upsetting', until Aerich set her straight. (Maya later said OOCly if Cheer had known Tazendra had a thing for Aerich, she would have encouraged her to challenge Daisy for Aerich's hand... that may not have gone well, save for Daisy freaking out and hiding.)

And right after was the honesty game and everyone else was all '... DNW', while Tazendra honestly doesn't see what's scary about public speaking so was so happy she could still help in games. And Lyvus was given the 'confess your love to someone', so Tazendra did so... and it worked. And Everything was Beautiful since neither of them remembered why they hadn't done this sooner.

Until Aerich was all 'I don't know what to wish for' after Tazendra made her wish, I still thought they'd be stuck with 'well, it's been fun', to be honest. Hell, until the final mingle when both revealed 'my team would be mad at me if I stay dead', I thought one or both of them would end up dead at the end of Sabra.

Well, that was long. Tell me about some of your favorite CR?

Well, I'm playing at Entanglement over on DW and I brought in Zel to Thusia (also on DW). I know a bunch of the Dragaera folks talked about putting together a cast somewhere, but who knows where. (I probably wouldn't play Tazendra for a bit; I want to make sure I can separate her canon voice from Honor; as for Honor, she got her happily ever after.) I'm apping a god there (as a god, not a PC) and may consider bringing in an original character.

Get Akin more into the keystone hunt, since he and Sion wanted to preserve some of the Judges as allies, but... it never happened, since we just couldn't get the time.

I also wish I'd done a better job at playing Marla, so I didn't end her so soon.

So, tell me about Aather. (To be honest, the cast size looked... daunting...)

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]spiltbloodlines
2012-01-09 02:03 am UTC (link)
Aather's set-up is really similar to Sabra -- amnesiac teams competing in games run by godlike beings in order to regain memories. However, the overall feel of the game is a lot different. It lacks that edge of survival/horror and there's a much stronger sense of community among the characters, of all the teams working together as one despite being made to compete.

It's actually sort of interesting to see how different the community dynamic is, even knowing that Aather functions differently from Sabra despite their similar set-up. I would say the tone of Aather is overall a lot lighter, so it's kind of nice to get to play the amnesia sans murdercave -- though Aather has its fair share of trauma games too.

I agree that the cast size is sort of daunting and Aather is really fast-paced -- mingle posts that get close to or over 1000 comments are the norm. That's all I can think up to say, let me know if you want more info about something. o/

And as for a question... Tell me about Entanglement? :?

[info]baddecisiondzur

Yeah; Sabra was daunting to keep up with. My god, I'll have weekends again! I'm not sure I'm ready to join a large, fast game again, as fun as amnesia non-murdercave would be.

Okay, so Entanglement is set on a space station nicknamed the Junkstation basically because it's mostly made of derelict spaceships (seriously, the mods took like half a dozen franchises, plus plenty of random space debris crap to design it). The station is home to a resistance against the Fay'lia Empire, a multiverse empire of aliens out to colonize all the things and teach all you barbarians to be civilized. Some of the PCs are part of the resistance, some were dragged there by Ancient Alien Technology, some are trying to capitalize on things*, some are double agents and some are just along to get laid. NPCs currently lead the station, but the option is open for PCs to get elected to their positions. (The resistance is also pretty factionalized: of my characters, Lafiel tends to want military solutions, Georgia is a journalist who wants to start Radio Free Multiverse and Ai believes in the Power of Love.)

The tone is a mix between serious and Hitchiker's Guide style of humor: we've done things like defend against attacks and smooze unaligned planets... but also made and advertised (at a con) a magical girl propaganda show and stole Christmas by assassinating Santa Claus** and put Darth Vader on a roomba because we didn't have a proper body for him when the character showed up post Episode III. So, sometimes silly, but not cracky, if it makes sense.

It's a lot slower than Sabra, and a somewhat small game, and a haven for less-common SF canons, though there are a few popular things (Dragon Age, Homestruck).

I can't think of a good question...

* Actually, we might have had all our double-agents drop.
** Seriously, the Fay'lia used a Santa-like figure to assassinate troublemakers on one world, so we had to intervene.

I'd say a bit, but more because 'Dammit, Snow, tell us these things'. So there's going to be a lot of 'we love you, but if you do that again, we will enact a humorous revenge'.

Considering Snow's canonical plan was 'revive the dead with magic, because that always ends well'*, it's probably for the best that she didn't do that.

Eventually!

...A-After Miko Cho and Kagu run a whole bunch of rituals and prayer sessions and stuff to make sure he's actually telling the truth about what happened, anyway. It's not that Kagu doesn't trust him, and it's not that they don't like him - it's just that the last time someone came back to life he was kind of possessed by a demon and caused a lot of problems (see: Sugawara), and there was another time before that when someone was killed and possessed without having all sorts of darkness in her heart to latch onto (see: Rao, who I assume the local mikos were informed about by Issun or someone after Himiko's death, Issun at the very least because he wouldn't have left that detail out when he went around being a Celestial Envoy and spreading Ammy's story), so they just want to make sure they don't have to do an emergency exorcism or anything. Yeah Akuro's dead and most of the demons are gone, but that's what they said when Yami was slain a little less than a year ago...

But after he's cleared (and after Kagu then shakes him a while for being an idiot during the final boss fight, because now that he's not on his deathbed she can do that), he and Scholar do meet up, and they do have their date. A cute date where they go cherry blossom viewing in the city and have ALL THE SHRIMP SUSHI at Sei'An's best restaurant (because Kurow doesn't have shrimp trauma and figures that just because you shouldn't eat it at Sabra La Tau doesn't mean that applies in Nippon - also since Kagu is pretty much in training to be Sei'An's ruler at the moment she kind of pushes through a favor or two and lets them do what they want on their date without worrying about money) and go star-viewing at night on the coast and it probably involves visiting Sugawara's shrine too. And she tells him her name as she promised, and all is well ^^

Merry's thoughts on Quince in general?

[info]noicequeen

At first he was the cute little Lepus kid who had to be protected. She kind of started realizing that, while he's a sweet kid, he's not... sheltered, I guess. So she kind of saw him as a little brother figure. Especially since he woke up after her, and didn't seem to fit Lepus. (Snow is an only child, but had an imaginary younger sister as a kid.)

Now she thinks he's pretty brave and wants him to be happy and have all the adorable animals and come visit her.

Quince has always been rather predisposed to liking Bunnycorn as a whole. Just as a matter of principle - they're his teammates and partnerteammates, what's not to like? And as long as Bunnycorn is there, he's not alone, which much as he didn't really remember it for a while, he kind of was for much of his life.

That said, he especially likes Merry. Always has. If he was to think of people in familial terms (which he doesn't because he's never really have one in the traditional sense, thanks Waka thanks), then in his eyes, Merry would be the cool, smart big sister who always keeps a level head and who you can always count on even when things are crazy. The fact that she can do magic is awesome, too. And he has a great deal of trust in her - I'd say Badger's probably the only person in Sabra who he trusts more, and even then it's by just a little bit.

Also he still thinks she's pretty, just saying ^^

If you could do one thing differently during your time at Sabra, what would it be?

One thing... that's hard. I'd say 'kept Marla around because Ophi got more and more interesting'. And I wish I'd had more time to play with Merry, since she had a lot of things in her registry, and I didn't do that kind of character justice by apping her so close to endgame.

What about you?

Akin likes all of them; he's always been fond of animals. He'd probably say 'humans' then get confused why people found that offensive. (Hey, both humans and Oankali count as animals!)

Tazendra: big cats, as they're the mascot of her house and also awesome solitary hunters and badass.

Tailmon: Hard to say; cats puzzle her a bit, but they are useful disguises. And she does have a catlike desire to watch birds a lot.

Merry: Is a dog person, but also likes birds for their ability to fly.

Zel: Mostly doesn't notice animals unless he's hungry. He was fond of the jawbreaker (a rocky critter originally from the surface) Beauty had Vulpecula raise, though.

Marla: Disapproves of nature; it's too green and squishy. Seriously, she's totally a city person. She did things like help the Bay Witch clean the city's waterways*, but most of the time she's 'eh, nature' and leaves it to other wizards. So another person who prefers humanity to non-human animals, even if, unlike Akin, she'd never answer the question like that.

How does Quince feel about animals that are not puppies?

* This indirectly helped her become Chief Sorceress of Felport. The Bay Witch mostly held her position on the council by being in charge of the city's port but she was pretty 'I don't care what happens on land'. OTOH, she remembers favors owed and does people who take an interest in her territory so, since she liked Marla and Marla helped her and seemed to give a damn about her concerns, she actually showed up to a meeting to vote her in.

Puppies and canines in general are always going to be his favorite because of Chibi, but he likes all animals, really. There isn't any kind he's ever met that he's had any dislike toward. He kind of has a little bit more understanding of birds, though, since he used to have this vest of Wings that allowed him to fly. Also, rabbits have made their way high up on the favorites list thanks to Sabra, and for similar reasons he hopes to someday see an actual unicorn. Some world's gotta have them, right? :)

Check on things -- that terraforming Mars is going well and assessing Venus. Probably offloading some of the Sabra animals somewhere on the Oankali ship until Venus can be made ready for them.

I've been working under the assumption that the subadult ooloi, Dehkiaht, he met on the ship was being considered as a mate, so there's finding a female construct who doesn't mind that Akin is naturally kind of a wanderer, and helping Dehkiaht though its last metamorphosis. Maybe starting the whole 'have kids' thing. (Also probably showing Dehkiaht all the things he brought back for it as a way of dealing with very annoyed possible-mate.)

After that, he wants to visit people and places and totally abuse the wished-for world walking. And having people visit him and see Earth and Mars. He actually got Bones to conceed that Akin's Earth is one of the few places Bones could go without violating the Prime Directive, since the Oankali are starfaring*.

What about Sion, since he presumably was covered by something, despite idling out?

* They probably aren't FTL-capable, but they live exceedingly long lives and don't permanently settle on planets; it's easier to coast between stars when you have all the time you want. OTOH, maybe I'm wrong; Butler didn't say either way, and they do have gravity control.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]madheroking
2012-01-09 03:47 am UTC (link)
TECHNICALLY he didn't idle exactly, but.

I'm honestly not 100% sure on Sion, since as I mentioned in Canis chan, I really couldn't address his wish or such without consulting with Ryner (and/or the rest of Canis...) because Sion is... Sion, and is highly likely to fail to take his OWN comfort/needs into account when making a wish.

THAT SAID, assuming best end and that combined wishes covered taking care of all the problems with his world including his own, he'd probably continue to be king of Roland and use whatever influence/resources he has to clean up any lingering aftermath and such. So pretty much the same as ever, except WITHOUT all kinds of dark secrets and imminent DOOM overshadowing everything. He'd definitely abuse the worldhopping and go visit people/places because his curiosity would get the better of him sooner or later. (And like I was joking about in Canis chan, quite possibly go prank Arianna at some point....)

Eventually he'd probably actually settle down and get married and all that, though, because honestly after all he's been through having a NORMAL life (or well... more or less...) is kind of incredibly appealing to him. :|b He would always welcome visitors though if people stop by!

Do your others plan to (ab)use worldhopping powers now?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]notacat
2012-01-09 03:52 am UTC (link)
Yes. At least for visits. Akin and Tazendra would be the real wanderers. Tazendra because... so many new things to see and fight and such. Akin because... well, part of his nature is an endless quest for novelty, and he really likes humans and wants to see all the different ways they can live, in hopes that he can bring them back for his human friends. (Even telling them about the Federation would be nice -- it can be done!)

Somehow the two most likely to 'settle down' in the sense of having a SO also are the two most likely to go off on adventures.

Do you think Sion would eventually be comfortable with getting married... especially since he probably could go meet a woman who didn't know he was royalty, since he can worldwalk now? (Though maybe that's not something you spring on someone...)

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]madheroking
2012-01-09 04:02 am UTC (link)
Sion has no problem with the idea of getting married! He just resents having it pushed on him and takes huge issue with the idea of just sleeping around with random women. Basically his issues in canon are twofold: first, a reluctance/fear of getting close to people less they be killed by someone trying to hurt him, and second, a deep disgust and hatred of his father, who DID do things like kidnap and rape random women, and a desire to be nothing like that. His experience with Canis in Sabra helped enormously on the first issue, though he still has some hangups on the second. Though it's possible that someone like Tazendra or Arianna could convince him that no, if both parties are okay with it then it's not necessarily a bad thing, if you're careful and take precautions... (And Arianna may possibly wall him a bit anyway if she visits, so. :|a)

But basically what that means is that he's still not likely to go sleeping around, but if/when he found someone he either really liked or felt he COULD come to love, he'd probably have no problems with the idea of getting married. He just wants it to be on his terms and not someone else's. :/

So someone needs to find a way for Tazendra and Masamune to meet post Sabra y/y?

Merry would have totally flirted with him, but not in a forceful way, if that makes sense. More of a 'I think you're attractive and if you show interest, I'll reciprocate' way. She may or may not have mentioned that she was a princess (depending on if it came up), and probably was very unlikely to mention the 'in exile due to matricide' short of something equally shocking from Sion.

Tazendra on Rory: Seriously Rory earned all the dere points when he proved he could Get things about Tazendra's society that few others could. The Roman thing was confusing to her, and she felt a bit bad for that facet of Rory's personality, since she found him... well, more understandable. Honestly, she's not sure how Rory can manage to carry both sets of memories in his head and know how to act -- Tazendra found it straining enough to have her House shifted by Mirror*, and she couldn't imagine having two complete pasts, but Rory copes amazingly.

Merry on Dani: I'm kind of sad the two never got to bond over their screwed-up family relationships now that Merry knows most of hers. Because both being the children of villains, they had stuff in common. But Merry has a soft spot for kids, as I was telling Quince. Especially kids who had a shitty childhood, since hers was pretty bad.

Akin on Dani: He mostly recognizes her as an Important Person to Ed.

Akin on Rory: Hilarious in that the two times they seriously interacted, it was full of awkward false intimacy.

Reverse?
