So, Tazendra's world was pretty much settled by human colonists, which brought some useful species* but also domesticated and found plenty of native species.
So, I got bored and decided to figure out what Tazendra would think each of the team mascots was...
| Corvus | Ratbird? There's a shortage of known birds | Lynx | Either a small (off-color) dzur, a large cat or a wingless tiassa
| Vulpecula | Fox*** | Hydra | many-headed Jhereg
| Monoceros | A horse with a lyorn's horn | Lepus | norska
| Pyxis | is not an animal | Cygnus | Curking? or a very short-legged issola
| Cepheus | Also not an animal | Lacerta | Vallista(4) It's probably too tiny to be a dragon, and we don't know what a Winneasaurus looks like besides that the name makes it sound lizard-ish (and it's edible and herbivorous)
| Canis | Dog (no, really) | Ursa | Tsalmoth
| Orion | Another non-animal | Cetus | Orca
| Pavo | Phoenix | Delphinus | Tazendra may just assume it's a fish.
| Ophiuchus | Yendi |
Personality-wise, these probably don't fit at all. (17 of the native Dragaeran animals are associated with the 17 Dragaeran houses. Which also have signature colors -- usually more than one, so it's not like I can go white = Monoceros = Tiassa, since white is also an Athyra, Issola, Iorich and Dzur color.
There are currently 17 teams, which amuses me as 17 is a Cosmologically Significant Number on Tazendra's world. (Clearly, this is why she was awoken after Cetus and Ursa showed up.)

* We know cats, dogs, and horses came along. If I was bored, I could go through and make a list of every plant mentioned in the books that could be from Earth, though we also know that the Dragaeran-on-the-street doesn't distinguish** between different species of bird of prey, calling them all hawks (except for athyra, so maybe just raptors), and Dragaeran orca are entirely different from Terran orca (but happen to share a name because 'nasty black and white sea predator' made an impression.
** I'm sure a falconer or a naturalist could tell you exactly what species is what.
*** One of Tazendra's friends' son goes by the Blue Fox in his life of crime, so they must exist on Dragaera. Creotha also look rather foxlike.
(4) Most of the lizardy-looking things mentioned in the text appear to be partially amphibious. Iorich are lizardy-looking water-dwellers too, but they are also big and have wings. Vallista aren't really specified as to size.
